Back in 2022, Philly bands They Are Gutting A Body of Water and A Country Western released a split EP together, and today, both bands have released something new. A Country Western announced a new album, Life on the Lawn, due March 29 via Crafted Sounds (pre-order). The band recorded the album in their practice space in South Philly last summer, and it was mixed by Ian Norris. One song is a collaboration with Winter. The first single is the grungy, ’90s-style indie rock of “The Dreamer,” and you can check that out in this post.
A Country Western also have some tour dates coming up, including Ridgewood, NY’s Trans-Pecos on April 7 with Buff Ginger, Crate, and Kettle. All dates are listed below.
Meanwhile, TAGABOW teamed up with Greg Mendez and Sun Organ for a new shoegazy collaboration called “Krillin.” TABAGOW’s Douglas Dulgarian says, “I met Greg when he lived in Chinatown. In the hallway to his apartment, going up the stairs; the first time I came over to his house, there was a chicken wing on the landing. I came back two months later and the chicken wing was still there. I met Buzz Jordan (Sun Organ) after he played my backyard when he was playing in Nyxy Nyx. I had this ‘Krillin’ song half written, and I hit up Greg. We decided to hit up Buzz together.”
Greg adds, “Douglas and I tried finishing this song with a metal band practicing on the other side of the wall, but it only started to make sense when we got to Buzz’s studio. I love TAGABOW and Sun Organ.” And Buzz adds, “Greg and Doug are the GOATS, it was rad to work with both of them at Blood Red Sky.” Listen and watch the video below.
Greg has tour dates coming up, including a couple shows supporting Drop Nineteens, one of which is at Brooklyn’s Warsaw on 4/20. All of his dates are listed below.
TAGABOW also have dates coming up, including SXSW (where they’ll play a BrooklynVegan show at Hotel Vegas on 3/14) and Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on March 28. They also have dates with Panchiko and DIIV (separately), Sound and Fury, and more. All dates are listed below.
