Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has affirmed that he’s not chasing the records in the Saudi Pro League. The Portuguese superstar also said that he’s enjoying his time in Saudi Arabia with a vision to make Al-Nassr the best side in the league.
Al-Nassr locked horns against Al-Duhail in their third fixture in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday, October 24. The Saudi Pro League side managed to win the match 4-3 with the help of goals from Anderson Talisca, Sadio Mane and a second-half brace from Ronaldo.
After the match, the Portuguese attacker spoke about his goal with the Saudi Arabian side while speaking to the press:
“Actually, I don’t care about records. I enjoy my time with Al Nassr, and we are working to be the strongest and best team.”
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January and since then, he has been leading the Saudi Arabian side. This season, Ronaldo has recorded 14 goals and seven assists in 13 appearances for them across different competitions.
The 38-year-old is also the leading goalscorer in the Middle Eastern football league with 11 goals, four goals ahead of Al-Hilal’s Aleksandar Mitrović.
Al-Nassr will next be seen in action against Al Feiha on Saturday, October 28.
Former Barcelona midfielder chooses Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi
Former Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic recently stated that he preferred playing with Cristiano Ronaldo more than Lionel Messi.
The Portuguese attacker arrived in Turin in 2018 and during that time, Pjanic was already a part of Juventus. Between 2018 to 2020, Pjanic played 77 games alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. The two also won the Scudetto twice in the tenure.
The Bosnian midfielder later moved to Barcelona for a brief stint in a €60 million deal, where he made only 13 appearances in two years for the Camp Nou outfit.
Pjanic said in an interview with O Jogo (via @TheNassrZone on X):
“I talk a lot with Cristiano Ronaldo. I have many memories with him, he is a great footballer. He’s the best I’ve ever played with. He is among the two, three strongest players in history.”
“I was lucky enough to play with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and it’s hard to say who is stronger. However, I had more fun with Ronaldo than Messi,” he added.
The 33-year-old is currently playing for UAE Pro League club Sharjah FC. Playing his second season for the side, he has made a total of 38 appearances and has recorded five goals and 10 assists.
