So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
DRILL – “WITHIN REASON”
Philly’s Drill make noisy, shouty post-punk and their new LP Permanent comes out March 8 via Abandon Everything Records. If you dig stuff like Priests or Le Tigre, check out new single “Within Reason.”

FRANCES CHANG – “YA A MIRAGE”
Frances Chang (formerly of Giant Peach) is releasing the new album Psychedelic Anxiety on February 16 via Ramp Local, and that album title is also a pretty good descriptor of this woozy single.

DAVID NANCE & MOWED SOUND – “TUMBLEWEED” FT PEARL LOVEJOY BOYD
David Nance & Mowed Sound will release their debut album via Third Man in a couple weeks and here’s another song from it. With brushed drums and airy flute, “Tumbleweed” rolls along like the brush its named for and features lovely co-lead vocals by Pearl LoveJoy Boyd.

NADINE SHAH – “GREATEST DANCER”
Nadine Shah’s fifth album, Filthy Underneath, arrives next month, and the latest single is the percussive “Greatest Dance,” which has a sinister undercurrent.

ANNA CALVI – “MIQUELON”
Anna Calvi releases Peaky Blinders: Season 5 & 6 (Original Score) this week. “What I learnt most from writing for Peaky Blinders is to trust my instincts,” Anna says. “I realised I shouldn’t be afraid of simplicity, and I shouldn’t assume that if something happens quickly, that the quality is compromised. This whole experience was so wonderful and so intense. I’m so proud of my scores for Peaky Blinders and I would love for this work to be a signpost for future generations of female composers.” “Miquelon” si both atmospheric and a showcase for Calvi’s formidable axe skills.

DOMAIN – “SPORES OF INDUSTRY” (ft. SCARAB’S TYLER MULLEN)
South Florida metallic hardcore band Domain will release their debut LP, Life’s Cold Grasp, this spring via DAZE, and lead single “Spores of Industry” is a delightfully brutal mix of hardcore attitude and heroic metal riffage. Scarab’s Tyler Mullen guests.

THE BREATH – “生存への憧憬 LONGING FOR SURVIVAL”
Tokyo hardcore punks The Breath have announced a new EP, 道理なき憎悪 Reasonless Hate, due February 9 via Convulse Records. If you classic ’80s hardcore and youth crew, don’t sleep.

APPARITION – “ASPHYXCREATION”
LA death metallers Apparition have announced a new Taylor Young-produced LP, Disgraced Emanations From A Tranquil State, due March 22 via Profound Lore. Here’s the ferocious opening track/lead single.

TINLICKER – “NOTHING TO LOSE” (FT. CIRCA WAVES)
UK duo Tinlicker will release their new album Cold Enough for Snow on February 16 via [PIAS] Électronique and features collaborations with Editors’ Tom Smith, Placebo’s Brian Molko and, on “Nothing to Lose,” Circa Waves.

CHARLEY CROCKETT – “$10 COWBOY”
“A $10 Cowboy is a country singer who made himself on a street corner in America,” Crockett says of his new album’s title track. “But the cowboy way, the cowboy mindset, that applies to anyone who doesn’t feel free, who feels fenced in and bound to something.”

JIM WHITE – “NAME MAKES THE NAME”
The Dirty Three‘s Jim White has played with just about everyone over the years, from PJ Harvey to Nick Cave, Cat Power, Courtney Barnett and more, but he’s never made a solo album. Until now: All Hits: Memories will be out March 29 via Drag City. He co-produced the album with Guy Picciotto (Fugazi / Rites of Spring), who also co-wrote six of the 13 songs.
