we include A dream come true In our list of 30 classic emo and post-hardcore albums that will celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2023, we say:
Armor For Sleep was born out of the fertile New Jersey scene that seemed to spawn some breakout emo bands in the early 2000s who fit right in with the emo-pop craze at the time, but we also went for something a little more atmospheric than theirs some peers. Band says they aim to sound like ‘Thursday meet Radiohead’ on debut album A dream come true, many reviews compared them to ’90s space rocker Hum, whose influence on emo bands only became common a few years ago. Their interest in dream pop and space rock is also evident in the lyrics of their debut record, which actually touch on themes like dreams and outer space, as well as the usual relationship themes in emo. Their interest in creating something more ethereal was aided by the elegantly aged production style and synths of Ariel Rechtshaid, who did some of the earliest production work on this LP (while continuing to work on Charli XCX, Sky Ferreira, Blood Orange before), Vampire Weekend, etc.). Armor for Sleep obviously have great taste, but they’re also great songwriters, which is why A dream come true Keep it up so well.Their masterpiece is the follow-up to 2005’s what to do when you diebut they are already in A dream come true Its title track and classics like “My Town” remain among their best.
