There is good news for Nigerians ahead of the World Championship which will be held in Budapest from August 19 to 17 2023.
The World Athletics Integrity Unit included the name of Oluwatibiloba Amusan in the names of Athletes who will be representing Nigeria at the tournament. The world record breaker was suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) in July 2023 for missing three consecutive doping tests.
The AIU law states that an athlete who misses tests within a period of 12 months is guilty of anti-doping rule violation, and the penalty includes suspension for two years, which may be reduced to a minimum of one year depending on the degree of fault.
However, the ban has been lifted the suspension, which means that Amusan will be able to compete in the World Championships pending the outcome of the situation.
