Barcelona have been able to seal two transfers just minutes before the deadline day of the 2023 summer transfer window.
The Catalonia side completed the signing of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo from Atletico Madrid and Manchester City on a season-loan deal for both players.
Cancelo will bring his experience to the La Liga side having played for big clubs across Europe. The defender started his career with Benfica where he won the league, the domestic cup and league cup as well as the Super Cup.
He moved to the Premier League to join Manchester City where he spent a total of three and a half seasons, having played the final half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan at German giants Bayern Munich.
On the other hand, Felix’s love for Atletico Madrid went down the drain at the start of last summer ( 2022/23) which led him to join Chelsea on loan during the 2023 winter transfer window.
The midfielder came into the limelight at the age of just 18 when he made his first-team debut for Benfica during the 2018/19 season. The midfielder soon earned himself a regular spot in the starting lineup at the Lisbon-based club. That season was a spectacular one for Félix as his 15 goals and seven assists helped Benfica to the league title.
Atletico Madrid broke the bank as he became the most expensive signing in the club’s history in 2019. Felix has made more than 100 appearances for the club from the capital in three and a half seasons.
