Just months after Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert series kicked off, beabadoobee returns with a new single. Titled “the way things go,” the track is a sentimental acoustic tune that captures all the candid magic of beabadoobee’s signature sound. Listen to the song below.
Centered around a lyrical reflection on a love that’s gone, “The Way Things Go” is a simple tune with beautiful resonance. Looking back on the good times and the bad, beabadoobee keeps himself firmly on the path of life. “I don’t mind if it’s the way it is,” she sings briskly. With an intimacy (which she’s mastered) and a ’60s-esque melody, the song almost feels like a classic acoustic ballad—just Like “Yesterday” or almost any Paul Simon song – reimagined for the modern world.
beabadoobee first debuted “the way things go” live a few months ago and has had it on playlists ever since. Along with the official release, she also shared a new music video for the song, directed by Jacob Erland and featuring ballet dancers in a gorgeous Renaissance-inspired setting. Watch the video below.
beabadoobee debuted in 2020 when she became a CoSign artist. Since then, she has continued to develop a loyal following for her acoustic songwriting. Earlier this year, she shared the Valentine’s Day single “Glue Song,” and later collaborated with Claro on an alternative version of the song.
This fall, beabadoobee will be performing in a series of festival and headlining acts. Buy tickets here.
