So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
BILLY JOEL – “TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON”
Part-time Madison Square Garden resident Billy Joel hasn’t released an album of original pop songs since 1993’s River of Dreams. We’re not sure if that’s about to change but he has just shared his first new single in ages, “Turn the Lights Back On,” which the Piano Man will also perform this weekend at the Grammys. “I’m late but I’m here right now,” Billy sings in perhaps a little bit of meta-commentary over what can only be called a very Billy Joel backing and melody.

QUINTON BROCK – “BROADWAY”
Quinton Brock has a new EP called Broadway on the way, and the title track is an alt-rock song that culminates in a pretty explosive chorus.

AARON WEST AND THE ROARING TWENTIES – “PAYING BILLS AT THE END OF THE WORLD”
In Lieu of Flowers, the new album from Dan Campbell’s (The Wonder Years) folk-rock project Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties, is out in April, and the latest single is “blue-collar ballad” “Paying Bills at the End of the World.”

DEADY – “R.I.P.”
Louisville’s Deady (members of Mister Goblin, The Archaeas, Parlour, and more) fuse ten-ton stoner metal riffs with catchy hooks on “R.I.P.”

STRFKR – “UNDER WATER / IN AIR”
“‘Under Water / In Air’ is kind of a playful mellow 80s ballad inspired song,” says STRFKR’s Josh Hodges. “It was probably one of the most collaborative songs on the record. It started with an idea of Keil’s that I expanded on then Arian added the guitars which made it come together and feel complete.” STRFKR’s new album Parallel Realms is out March 1 via Polyvinyl

NORAH JONES – “CHANGE” (BIG THIEF COVER FT. REMI WOLF)
For her new Spotify Single, Norah Jones enlists Remi Wolf for a rather adult-contemporary take on Big Thief.

THE DISMEMBERMENT PLAN – “UNREQUITED” (CIRCUS LUPUS COVER)
DC label For Love Of Records has released a new covers compilation, Yesterday & Today: DC Does Dischord, and among other things, it features the first Dismemberment Plan recording in over a decade, a cover of Circus Lupus‘ 1992 song “Unrequited.” Read more here.

HIT-BOY & THE ALCHEMIST – THEODORE & ANDRE EP
Producer-rappers Hit-Boy and The Alchemist teamed up for a new three-song EP and video, including a song called “Morrissey.”
