blonde shell Released one of our favorite albums so far this year, her self-titled debut, she’s taking part in her first North American tour this month, with the first of two shows in New York on Wednesday night (July 19). The Bowery Ballroom is a familiar venue for Sabrina Teitelbaum — originally from New York, she was delighted to be there in person, as she has attended many shows there.
Early in the show, Teitelbaum promised to play “all the songs” to sold-out audiences, and she did, playing all the tracks from her new album, as well as off-album tracks “Cartoon Earthquake” and “Street Rat,” the new song “It Wasn’t Love,” and her covers of Samia’s “Charm You” and Le Tigre’s “Deceptacon.” The crowd sings throughout, especially on “Olympus” and “Sepsis.” Teitelbaum commanded the stage and capped off the evening with a particularly fiery performance from the album Salad. Great set.

You’ll have another chance to meet Blondshell this week in NYC – tonight (July 20th) she’s performing at the National Sawdust for a “A New York Evening with” show at the Grammy Museum where she’ll be performing and talking rolling stonesAngie Matocho. Tickets are still on sale. She will also return to support Liz Phair in the fall exile in gavill 30th Anniversary Tour at the King’s Theater on 24th November.
