Alabama Shakes bandleader Brittany Howard‘s tour supporting her fantastic second solo album WHAT NOW hit NYC over the weekend with two consecutive nights at Webster Hall. We caught night 1 (2/16), and like the album, it was crazy good, with Brittany commanding the stage. She was backed by a seriously talented eight-piece band, including Nate Smith, who dropped a solo at the end of “13 Century Metal.” Howard whipped out a few solos on her guitar, too.
Brittany’s Bermuda Triangle bandmate Becca Mancari, who is opening this short February run (and recently covered Brittany’s “Short & Sweet”), was a terrific start to the night. Check out photos of the whole night by P Squared, plus the setlist, below.
