As BrooklynVegan enters its 20th anniversary year (!), we’ve decided to mix things up a bit and launch a new free digital magazine! It’s still business as usual here at brooklynvegan.com, but digital magazine subscribers will get even more content: an exclusive cover story each issue, reviews of a bunch of our favorite new records, previews of upcoming tours that we’re excited about, and various other lists, interviews, and features that revolve around the music we love. Our very first cover stars are Mannequin Pussy, whose new album I Got Heaven is one of our favorite albums of the year so far, and we had a blast catching up with them about the album and meeting up with them in Brooklyn for the photoshoot that accompanies our story.
Our first quarterly issue — which will get emailed you instantly when you subscribe (read it on any device, but note it also looks very different on desktop and mobile) — also includes a spring tour preview, essential hardcore albums, Artist to Watch features on VIAL, Wisp, Carpool, Car Colors (ex-The Wrens), and Open Mike Eagle’s new group Previous Industries; an IDLES interview; reviews of new albums from The Smile, Green Day, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Brittany Howard, MGMT, Friko, and more; the first edition of Bill‘s new TV column Screens, and more.
Putting together this first issue has already been a journey, and a labor of love, and we’re excited to see where else it takes us as we continue to move forward and roll out more issues every 3 months (in addition to some special editions we have up our sleeves). We’re grateful to you for coming on this ride with us, and we hope the magazine brings a little more joy and music to your life.
