As a new-age pop dance track in a funky retro disco style, “Butter” brings a bit of nostalgia by Bruno Mars, a bit of synth by Jam & Lewis, creating a song that is “smooth like buttercream” and “shiny” superstar aura.”
Butter brings a sweet message: “Smooth like butter/ Like a criminal undercover/ Gon’ pop like trouble/ Breakin’ into your heart like that”, the catchy choreography focuses on making the most of the song’s message.
Leader RM co-wrote and wrote lyrics with foreign producers Jenna Andrews, Rob Grimaldi, Stephen Kirk, Alex Bilowitz, Sebastian Garcia, and Ron Perry.
As BTS’ second English single to target the global market after Dynamite, Butter focuses more on the charisma of each member, creating a dynamic performance through the song full of summer energy.
