UK metalcore band Cauldron have announced their debut full-length album, Suicide In The City, due November 3 via The Coming Strife Records/Ephyra Records. Produced and mixed by Sam Bloor, it’s a concept album inspired by mental health struggles, and lead single “Rejection Pact” delivers its themes with pure, aggressive chaos, before making an about-face with its bright, melodic coda. Listen and watch the Sam Kay-directed video below.
The album features guest appearances from Jess Nyx (World of Pleasure, Mortality Rate), River Elliott (Ballista), and Scott Nicholson. Here’s more on the album via press release:
Suicide In The City is a concept album based around a group therapy session in Seattle run by the main character of the story, Tristram St. Claire. Interweaving throughout are the stories of characters from the group, making an in-depth tale ladened with the physical and mental struggles of all involved. The concept draws from vocalist Frazer Cassling’s experiences and struggles with mental health, portrayed through characters, as he pulled himself through the lowest time of his life.
“The album’s concept was conceived during the worst period of my life,” states Cassling. “The story is laced with things I needed to write to myself. During this time I was diagnosed with OCD, and this really changed the shape of where the album was going. The lyrics are ultra-personal, whilst being really story-focused.”
