Cedric Bixler-Zavala of The Mars Volta and At the Drive In and his wife, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, have responded after That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison after being found guilty of raping two women. Chrissie was one of Masterson’s accusers, but a jury didn’t find him guilty in her charge. She and Cedric have been vocally outspoken against Masterson for years, saying they were stalked, intimidated and harassed by Masterson and the church of Scientology after Chrissie and three other women sued him.
In a post on Saturday, Cedric wrote, “This is an appreciation post for the people who helped put danny masterson away for rape. Thank you for being as fearless as my wife and her sister survivors. Thank you for never wavering in your pursuit of justice. Yesterday was a heavy day. My sister texted me a quote for @chrissiebixler to read right after the sentencing hit the news

In another post, Cedric writes, “I’ll be working on an “I don’t appreciate you” post. It’s long. You’ll probably want to unfollow me for it but it’s just a post dedicated to people that suck. No harm no foul. Just a list of bootlickers.”
In her post, Chrissie writes, “I’m still processing everything that happened yesterday. I will say that last night I had my first solid and peaceful night’s sleep in years. I just want to thank the following people for their tireless fight in helping us get justice. The Honorable Judge Olmedo, DDA Reinhold Mueller, DDA Ariel Anson, George Gascon and the LADA’s office, Detective Javier Vargas, Victim’s advocate Rosario Mariscal, our angel and fierce protector @leahremini , @rindermike , @asmithlevin , @yasharali , Lisa Bartley from @abc7la , my incredible husband Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and for my sister survivors Jen, Niesha, Bobette, Tricia, Kathleen, and to the rest of his survivors known and unknown… I hope you’re all experiencing justice and I pray deep healing for us all. Danny Masterson will never harm another woman for as long as he shall live. To all the victims of Scientology, we aren’t finished, yet.”
Cedric and Chrissie both also made posts and stories referencing Masterson’s That ’70s Show costar Ashton Kutcher and his wife (and another former co-star) Mila Kunis. who recently issued appologies after being blasted when the character letters they wrote on behalf of Masterson’s sentencing were posted online. Cedric posted a clip from the “Growing Up In Scientology” YouTube where Aaron Smith Levin describes how he says Kutcher reacted when told to fire Masterson from The Ranch.
Stereogum quotes Chrissie’s Instagram stories, where she addressed Kutcher and Mila on September 8. “Dear Ashton, I know the secrets your ‘role model’ keeps for you,” she wrote. “Ones that would end you. Did you forget I was there? You were on speaker phone that night you called Danny on February 21, 2001. I heard everything. I heard the plan. In my opinion, you’re just as sick as your ‘mentor.’”
“Dear Mila, I pray you begin to process what you experienced as a child on that set,” she continued. “Your old interviews are very telling (I encourage everyone to watch them and decide for yourself what you hear and see. Do so before they get scrubbed from the internet) I also know what happened in Toronto and after. Question, if that’s what you view as a normal relationship with a ‘big brother figure’ then I feel sad for you, and I hope you consider getting into therapy. You all must forgot I was there the whole time those first 5 years of That 70’s Show. I remember everything.”
