Morbid Angel‘s Altars of Madness-era vocalist/bassist David Vincent and drummer Pete Sandoval have been playing Morbid Angel songs in a band called I Am Morbid, and now they’ve set to perform Altars of Madness in full at Milwaukee Metalfest, alongside “selected classics” from 1991’s Blessed are the Sick, 1993’s Covenant, and 1995’s Domination, all three of which David and Pete also played on. According to Setlist.fm, it will be the band’s fourth US show since first debuting the band with a 2017 Europe tour.
Morbid Angel originally formed in 1983 and, after cycling through multiple members, cemented the lineup of founding guitarist Trey Azagthoth, vocalist/bassist David Vincent, guitarist Richard Brunelle, and drummer Pete Sandoval for Altars of Madness, their 1989 debut album. David, Trey, and Pete would continue to make up the majority of the Morbid Angel lineup up through Domination, after which David was replaced by new vocalist/bassist Steve Tucker. Pete departed the band in 2010, and Morbid Angel continues to this day with Trey and Steve.
