Code Orange slow things down on their new single, the alt-rock song “Mirror.” The latest track from their upcoming album, The Above, features lead vocals by guitarist-singer Reba Meyers.
While the band is best known for its heavy brand of metalcore and industrial metal, “Mirror” features melodic singing and acoustic guitars.
“This song has a special place in my heart,” stated Meyers in a press release. “To me, it’s the climax of this style of my writing in this band thus far. Take a look in the mirror, are you bored?”
The track is accompanied by a music video featuring the band members surrounded by various animated visuals. It was created by Code Orange’s own audiovisual collective NOWHERE2RUN.
“’Mirror’ is NOWHERE2RUN’s first foray into full music video production from conception all the way to the final edit,” commented singer Jami Morgan. “It’s fitting that we took on a song that is dynamically disparate from anything Code Orange has ever done. It’s a little softer, a little more lush, and led by a powerful performance from Reba. It’s another important piece of the puzzle that is The Above.”
The new tune follows previous single “Take Shape,” which features guest vocals from Billy Corgan. And even though Corgan doesn’t appear on “Mirror,” there’s definitely a bit of a Smashing Pumpkins vibe throughout the new single.
