Louisville hardcore greats Coliseum called it quits in 2015, and then vocalist Ryan Patterson turned his attention to Fotocrime, but now the band is back and slightly renamed. Now known as C.L.S.M., the trio of Ryan, bassist Kayhan Vaziri and drummer Carter Wilson have just surprise-released a new album, Infinity Shit, via Auxiliary Records and Equal Vision.
Ryan says, “Carter, Kayhan and I are regularly in contact, often talking about new movies and music we like and keeping up to date on each other’s lives and bands. While Coliseum ended activity in 2015, for us the connection and friendship we had is still very much alive and we continued to desire to make music together. A jolt of inspiration hit me in 2021 and I started writing demos of fast and intense D-beat and skank beat hardcore songs then sent them to Carter and Kayhan. We were all excited about the music and the idea of working together so we made this album, purely based on the immediate creative spark and our long-term friendship and collaboration.”
The 10 ripping songs on this album very much lean in that D-beat and skank beat direction–it’s some of the rawest, fastest stuff they’ve put out since Coliseum’s early days. Stream it below and pick up a physical copy here.
In the time since Coliseum’s demise, Kayhan remained busy with Yautja and Carter with Null.
