The late Daniel Johnston‘s entire ’80s and ’90s output, including such underground classics as Songs of Pain, Hi, How Are You?, Yip Jump Music, Artistic Vice and 10 other releases, have all hit Bandcamp for the first time. Those first 14 releases — featuring most of his best-known songs — have been remastered from the original source tapes by producer, longtime collaborator and Shimmy-Disc founder Kramer and are available in 24-bit lossless audio and other digital formats. 100% of profits go to the Daniel Johnston Estate “for the sole purpose of preserving Daniel’s musical and artistic legacy.”
To celebrate, all 14 releases are available as pay-what-you-want downloads through December 20 at 11:59 PM.
Daniel’s 21st century catalog will get the same remastered treatment on Bandcamp in 2024. Stay tuned.
