Danny Brown has announced his new album, Quaranta, out November 17th via Warp Records. As a preview, he’s shared the lead single, “Tantor,” produced by The Alchemist.
Quaranta means “40” in Italian, and has been teased by the now 42-year-old Brown for years. The 11-track project features appearances from MIKE, Bruiser Wolf, and Kassa Overall, with production from Quelle Chris, frequent collaborator Paul White, in-house Bruise Brigade producer SKYWLKR, and more.
“Tantor” finds the rapper spitting over an off-kilter instrumental from The Alchemist as he drops references to old friends and Olympic diver Greg Louganis. Though Brown has recently gone sober, he makes sure to proclaim, “Paid for a therapist but I still ain’t change.”
In the music video, directed by *UNCANNY, Brown brings the line “cyborg with vocal chords” to life. Watch the clip below.
Brown’s last solo album was 2019’s uknowwhatimsayin¿ In March, he teamed up with JPEGMAFIA for their collaborative project, SCARING THE HOES, one of the best albums of the year. Next month, Brown will hold his 10th annual Bruiser Thanksgiving celebration in Detroit, which he’ll follow with a handful of other dates to close out 2023.
