Writer, photographer, and Fiddler Records founder Amy Fleisher Madden‘s new emo photobook Negatives: A Photographic Archive of Emo (1996-2006) is out on October 24 via Chronicle Books (pre-order in the BV store), and she’ll celebrate its release at Brooklyn bookstore Books Are Magic on October 27, in conversation with Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional. Photographer Michael Dubin, whose work appears in the book, will moderate, and tickets are on sale now.
“I am so happy to officially announce that my dear friend Chris Carrabba will be joining me at Books Are Magic in New York on October 27, 2023,” Amy writes. “Chris is one of my oldest friends, we’ve been through a lot together, and I’ve stood on the side of his stage countless times—it’s going to be wild to be up there together.”
“And to set the tone right in a way that only he can—another one of my oldest and dearest friends, Michael Dubin, is going to moderate the event,” she continues. “If you’re not Dubin familiar, he’s a world class photographer that contributed so many amazing images (and so much of his time) to Negatives and he’s been such a huge part of this adventure. I haven’t been to NY in a really long time—let’s do this one right.”
Amy’s first signing to Fiddler Records, launched when she was 16, was The Vacant Andys, fronted by a young Chris Carrabba, and she also went on to release early Dashboard Confessional material on the label.
