Producer, film/tv composer and Unloved member David Holmes has announced Blind on a Galloping Horse, his first solo album in 15 years, which will be out November 10 via Heavenly. The album is decidedly politically-minded and also includes a recording of an unreleased song by Holmes’ late friend Andrew Weatherall.
The first single from the album is “Necessary Genius,” which pays tribute to “dreamers, misfits, radicals, outcasts” who are no longer with us, and includes shout-outs to Weatherall, Terry Hall, Sinéad O’Connor, Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin, John Coltrane, Ennio Morricone, and more. The song features regular Holmes/Unloved collaborator Raven Violet, and you can watch the video below.
