So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
DEVENDRA BANHART – “FIREFLIES”
Here’s one last preview of Devendra Banhart’s new Cate Le Bon-produced album Flying Wig before the whole thing hits on Friday. “This is a song of regret,” says Devendra, “With a bit of acceptance of the temporal nature of all phenomena thrown in there….. I wanted to write something about Paradox, the space where two contradicting views can exist and both be true…”

CRUMB AND MELODY’S ECHO CHAMBER – “LE TEMPLE VOLANT”
“”I remember the first time I heard Crumb’s music, it was the song ‘Locket’ that blew my mind,” says Melody Prochet of the Mutual Appreciation Society that is this new collab single with Crumb. “I think it kind of enlightened that spark in me that loves music so passionately, and made me reach out to them. The love was mutual and once that door was opened, we had to create something together, it’s been a nice flow of ideas back and forth.”

CONCHÚR WHITE – “I DID GOOD TODAY”
Hailing from Northern Ireland, Conchúr White has signed to Bella Union who will release his new album Swirling Violets on January 19. That’s a ways off but you can listen to the lush folk of “I Did Good Today” today.

SAVE FACE – “FOUND DEAD AT THE CRIME SCENE”
NJ emo band Save Face are now on Counter Intuitive Records, and their first single for the new label is the theatrical pop-screamo of “Found Dead at the Crime Scene.”

GRAVE SECRETS – “FUCK SHIT UP”
LA punks Grave Secrets are gearing up to release their debut album Till Your Lungs Fall Out on October 27 via Wiretap Records. It was produced by Alex Estrada (who produced the first Touché Amoré and Joyce Manor records), and it includes the anthemic yet gnarly ripper, “Fuck Shit Up.”

DOECHII – “PACER”
Ahead of her tour with Doja Cat and Dia De Los Deftones, Doechii has dropped a new single that finds her embracing metallic horror-rap.

WIZ KHALIFA, BIG K.R.I.T., SMOKE DZA & GIRL TALK – “EUROSTEP”
The extremely 2010s team of Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., Smoke DZA, and Girl Talk are back once again with a new dose of trap=pop called “Eurostep.”

OPEN CITY – “EVERYTHING”
Ahead of Open City’s anticipated new album Hands In The Honey Jar, the Philly hardcore band (with members of Paint It Black, Bridge and Tunnel, and more) have shared another ferociously catchy taste of it.

PWRUP – “THEY BARTHOLOMULE” / “CASTIGATION: THE SIMULATION” (ft. THE BEST OF THE WORST)
Massachusetts band PWRUP make very ripping ska-punk/ska-core, and they’ve just signed to Ska Punk International for the release of this two-song single.

A MOURNING STAR – “WOULD IT BE EASIER IF MY FLESH TANGLED THROUGH THIS BLADE”
Vancouver melodic metalcore band A Mourning Star have shared another taste of their anticipated debut LP A Reminder Of The Wound Unhealed, and it’ll take you right back to the Y2K era.

GLEN HANSARD – “THERE’S NO MOUNTAIN”
Glen Hansard’s first solo album in over four years, All That Was East Is West Of Me Now, is out next month via ANTI-, and the latest single is the uplifting “There’s No Mountain.”

TRÉ BURT – “PIECE OF ME”
Ahead of his upcoming album Traffic Fiction, singer/songwriter Tré Burt shares “Piece of Me,” a breakup song fueled by some nostalgia-inducing psychedelic soul.

FROST CHILDREN – “LETHAL”
Sibling duo Frost Children announced a new album, Hearth Room, due out November 17 via True Panther, which has them switching gears from hyperop to acoustic arrangements. They’ve shared the first single, “Lethal.”

CRIME IN STEREO – “ROGUE WAVE”
Long Island melodic hardcore/emo vets Crime In Stereo have shared a soaring new taste of their first album in 13 years.

CAVE IN – HEAVY PENDULUM: THE SINGLES – LIVE AT BBC’S MAIDA VALE STUDIOS
Cave In have just dropped a BBC session with live recordings of four songs from last year’s great Heavy Pendulum.

LITTLE BROTHER – “WISH ME WELL” & “GLORY GLORY”
Legendary Durham, NC underground rap duo Little Brother (aka Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh) have shared their first two songs in four years, and you can read about them here.

SCREAM – “DC SPECIAL SHA LA LA”
DC hardcore / post-hardcore legends Scream have announced their first album in 30 years, and you can read about its lead single here.

STRANGE JOY – “POWER POP”
Texas melodic hardcore band Strange Joy have announced the Power Pop EP and you can read about its title track here. Their 2022 EP 5 Tracks also gets a vinyl release next week and we’ve got an exclusive red variant up for pre-order.

LYDIA LOVELESS – “POOR BOY”
Lydia Loveless shared a final advance single off her new album Nothing’s Gonna Stand In My Way Again before it comes out this Friday (9/22).

BAR ITALIA – “MY LITTLE TONY”
Surprise! UK band bar italia have announced their second album of 2023, The Twits, which will be out November 3 via Matador. The first single from the album is its opening cut, “my little tony,’ which has Cristante, Fehmi and Fenton still trading off lines, but musically it’s a little noisier and a little poppier.

AL MENNE – “FREAK ACCIDENT”
Great Grandpa’s Al Menne unveiled the title track of their solo debut, Freak Accident, which you can read more about here.

THE POLYPHONIC SPREE – “GALLOPING SEAS”
This is the first single from The Polyphonic Spree’s first album in 10 years. “There’s an acoustic current running through the whole body of work, and we tried to embrace it as a thread,” says founder Tim DeLaughter.
