Disclosure unveils their surprising new album alchemy. It marks the first independent release by brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence on their own AWAL label, Apollo Records, after leaving Capitol Records. items. Listen below.
Work on the album began last year, when Howard began sketching in Los Angeles with friends and collaborators Max Margolis and Donnie Bravo, before sending samples to Guy, who was still in London. They met in London after Guy tried to write a sketch, and they finished the album.
“It’s a combination of deep heartbreak and sadness, but also deep admiration and appreciation,” Howard said in a statement about the album’s title, which refers to the mindset they had in making the record. “Let’s turn this horrible feeling into something beautiful. The whole idea is to turn pain into beauty—which, in hindsight, was always our goal.”
Guy added: “This record is a celebration of how liberated we feel now. We’re no longer signed to a major label. We’re not going to tour this record. We can do whatever we like and be super creative .”
It’s worth noting that Howard pulled out of his Australian tour last year to “take some time to take care of himself”. Thankfully, he seems to be in a better place.
Disclosure’s last full-length album is their 2020 album vitality.2021 to follow never enough EP and two singles released last year: “Waterfall” featuring RAYE and “You’ve Got To Let Go If You Want to Be Free” featuring Zedd.
