NYC punks Dog Date have announced a new album, Zinger, due April 12 via Pop Wig, the label run by members of Turnstile, Angel Du$t, Trapped Under Ice, etc (pre-order). Having begun in 2015 as vocalist/guitarist Dylan Kennedy’s solo project, Zinger is Dog Date’s first album with their five-piece, two-drummer live lineup, and Dylan says, “We really wanted to bring that live dynamic into the studio and play everything together. We recorded live with only a handful of overdubs, and having both drummers playing together on this one was so important for us because they’re able to bounce off one another so naturally.” It was recorded by engineers Matt Labozza and Morgan Miller.
The first single is the fast, garagey, 90-second ripper “Nuff Said,” and that comes with an animated video by Peter Wagner that’s just as scrappy and chaotic as the song itself. Check it out below.
Dog Date also have some shows coming up, including two in their hometown: one at Our Wicked Lady on March 30 with Stuy, Tear Dungeon, and Nick Cage; and an album release show on April 19 at Trans-Pecos. All dates are listed below.
