DragonForce have unleashed a ferocious heavy metal cover of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”
The song, fittingly titled “Wildest Dreams (DragonForce’s Version),” is included as a bonus track on the CD version of the band’s upcoming album, Warp Speed Warriors, out March 15th.
So far, DragonForce’s recent singles have seen them embracing some carefree novelty — from penning a Zelda-themed song to a lending their music to a VR sword-battle game tie-in — and now they’ve revealed themselves to be veritable Swifties, covering the 1989 track “Wildest Dreams” in their own hyper-shreddy style.
The casual Taylor Swift fan might not even recognize it as a cover, as guitarist Herman Li, singer Marc Hudson, and company blaze through the pop tune — as they are wont to do. The vocal hooks eventually give away the source material, but DragonForce do a solid job making this one their own without veering from the core structure of the original.
DragonForce first busted out the Swift cover on their last North American tour, so there’s a good chance that it finds its way into the setlist on the band’s upcoming trek with Dethklok. Dates kick off in April, and you can get tickets here.
