EARTHGANG have shared “Die Today,” the latest preview of their upcoming EP, EARTHGANG vs the Algorithm: RIP Human Art. The accompanying video features the duo of WowGr8 and Olu attending their own funeral, where fellow rapper Denzel Curry gives a bizarre eulogy.
Produced by Olu with Buddy Red, “Die Today” addresses fake love. Whereas Olu asks whether his partner would “cross the galaxy” to check on him, WowGr8 is more defiant, rapping, “They say the good die young, I’ma be the last remain/ Hate all you want, I can’t stop, I’m a force of nature.”
In the video, EARTHGANG imagine how their deaths would spark reactions from news outlets like Fox News and CNN, Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, and social media (Former President Obama, Elon Musk, and Dwayne Johnson all pay tribute). Thanks to all the attention, the song piles up streams and zooms to the top of the charts. At the funeral itself, Curry mocks how his friends are dressed in their caskets as well as their taste in women. Watch the full clip below.
Last month, EARTHGANG dropped their first new music of 2023, “Bobby Boucher,” in which they pay tribute to Adam Sandler’s character in the 1998 cult classic comedy The Waterboy. At the time, the group teased that EARTHGANG vs the Algorithm: RIP Human Art would be released in late July.
EARTHGANG’s last full-length was GHETTO GODS, one of the best albums of 2022. In December, they will play a run of shows in Australia; grab your tickets here.
