Country singer Emily Nenni has announced a new album, Drive & Cry, due May 3 via New West (pre-order). It was produced by John James Tourville of The Deslondes and mixed by Matt Ross-Spang, and the rollicking first single “Get To Know Ya” is out now with a Joshua Shoemaker-directed video featuring Cornbread Cowboi, Joshua Hedley, Jonny Fritz, Esther Rose, Bella White, Riley Downing of The Deslondes, Jack Quiggins of Teddy & The Rough Riders, Hunter Pinkston of the Pink Stones, and more.
“Aside from ‘Amarillo Highway’ [by Terry Allen], which is a staple of my sets, this is the first record I have completely written on my own,” Emily says. “I spent a good bit of solitary time ruminating on things that had happened over the last year or two. Rethinking what I’m doing, how I’m doing it, who with, even in just the everyday. Change is hard but also such a gift. I’m most proud of the quality of folks involved in this record, they’re all top-notch professionals and the kindest people. I had so much fun —even through the tears—at every stage of making this record. I really hope everybody hears that.”
