Former Mr. Bungle member Theobald “Theo” Lengyel has been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann, San Francisco Chronicle reports. Lengyel was previously named a person of interest when Herrmann went missing (she was last seen on December 3 in Santa Cruz, according to the El Cerrito Police Department), and investigators found her car in front of Legyel’s home in El Cerrito. Police said that Lengyel also traveled to Portland following Herrmann’s disappearance. They are still awaiting DNA identification of human reminds, believed to be hers, found by investigators in a wooded area of Tilden Regional Park.
Local ABC affiliate KRCR reports that Lengyel and Hermann “had been involved in a domestic violence case,” and that Herrmann filed a restraining order against Lengyel in 2017. They also filed for a divorce that year.
Lengyel, 54, was a founding member of Mr. Bungle, where he played saxophone, clarinet, and keyboards through the release of 1995’s Disco Volante. After that, he left the band due to “creative differences.”
