So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
GLITTERER – “JUST A PLACE”
Title Fight offshoot Glitterer have shared the second single from their upcoming album Rationale. This one finds them moving into dreamy, atmospheric indie pop territory, but still with Ned Russin’s unmistakable vocal style in the forefront.

CRAIG WEDREN – “PLAY INNOCENT”
“’Play Innocent’ was originally written for the ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ TV series, albeit in a rough-n-rudimentary form,” Craig Wedren says of “Play Innocent” which is on his upcoming solo album. “It was one of about 30 original songs we created for the show, each an homage to a different artist, song or genre that we loved from the era, circa 1981, when the show takes place.” Craig adds it was inspired by Dire Straits, “thus the relatively low vocal register (for me, anyway) and ‘Skateaway’ inspired beat. It must’ve seeped into the video concept, too, although so much time had passed between the ‘Wet Hot’ and ‘The Dream Dreaming’ that it never consciously occurred to me.”

NAILAH HUNTER – “STRANGE DELIGHTS”
“‘Strange Delights’ started as an improv over a modular synth loop that my partner made,” Nailah Hunter says of the latest single off her debut full-length, Lovegaze. “At the time, we were burning a bunch of incense in a dark room, which served as inspiration for the wandering vocal melody. Once I worked on it with producer Cicely Goulder, ‘Strange Delights’ took on a more golden quality that reminds me of a hazy and intoxicated feast in a peculiar, yet familiar wood.”
—
THE UMBRELLAS – “ECHOES”
“‘Echoes’ utilizes that wistful, melancholic feeling of letting go of some of the more unrealistic aspects of your dreams and aspirations,” say San Francisco’s The Umbrellas of this new song from their upcoming album Fairweather Friend. “A sense of world-weariness sets in, and when we wrote this song we were all processing that in different ways.”
—
EELS – “CHRISTMAS, WHY YOU GOTTA DO ME LIKE THIS”

MGMT – “BUBBLEGUM DOG”
