KISS played what they say are their last shows (until their digital avatar era begins, anyway) in December in NYC, but cofounder Gene Simmons isn’t done performing. He’s bringing his Gene Simmons Band solo project to São Paulo, Brazil festival Summer Breeze, happening on April 26-28 at Memorial da América Latina. Gene is one of the day one headliners, and tickets are on sale now.
As Ultimate Classic Rock points out, guitarists Brent Woods (Sebastian Bach, Vince Neil) and Zach Throne (Corey Taylor), and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Foreigner) join Gene in the band, which last toured (with a different lineup) in 2018. Previously, their sets have included KISS songs and covers of The Beatles, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and more, as well as material from Simmons’ solo albums.
Meanwhile, no need to be in Brazil to catch Gene’s old friend Ace Frehley on tour. The legendary ex-KISS axeman has a new album, 10,000 Volts, arriving next month, and is on the road starting later in January, including an NYC show at Sony Hall on March 28. Pre-order 10,000 Volts on transparent red and blue with silver and black splatter vinyl in the BV store.
Speaking of KISS’ digital avatar era, it’s set to arrive in 2027, according to a December teaser. Watch that below, and stay tuned.
