Gogol Bordello have shared a new single, a cover of Angelic Upstarts’ “Solidarity,” which features New Order‘s Bernard Summer. “This is a particularly meaningful collaboration for us,” Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz says. “To do this tribute with one of the most masterful and brilliant pioneers, Bernard Sumner, is truly epic and timely.” Hutz and Sumner each take a verse on the cover, and Bernard also did his own “Right to Freedom” mix of the song. Listen to both below.
“Solidarity” also marks the relaunch of Hutz’s label Casa Gogol Records which will see in 2024 releases by punk duo Puzzled Panther and singer-songwriter Grace Bergere.
Earlier this year, Gogol Bordello released a Ukraine benefit single featuring Jello Biafra, Tre Cool, Joe Lally, and more. The band will close out 2023 with New Years shows in NYC and Philadelphia.
