Anaheim’s Movie Theme Hardcore Geek Earl of O’Rourke released their last album end credits Last month, Now they announced their last East Coast show.it happens in September 16th in St. Vitus and jagged smile (just released their first album in 21 years), Fluoriderelated to Graf Orlock sweat. tickets Available now.
So what does Count Orlok’s death mean for Vitriol? anything?
Well, it’s the flagship band, if you will. We documented Level Plane before it disappeared. The reason I started this tab is because the Level Plane disappeared. In the summer of 2009, Graf Orlock and my other band, Ghostlimb, were going to do a 42-day gig in Europe, and we couldn’t live without records, but Level Plane had disbanded, but we had to have records for this thing, so I made them, that’s one and two. Right now, the upcoming end credits are 61, and the rest of the stuff gets us to 63.
I have no idea. I think there’s a lot going on now and other things; I’ve got a lot of Graf Orlock stuff, and those presses aren’t going away. I think the legacy of that connection will live on forever because it’s the main band that always pushes things forward. All the bands I’ve been in have been together. Like my other band, Ghostlimb, it’s more melodic and about history, politics, stuff like that. Count Orlok is like a sledgehammer; Ghost Limb is like a rapier. It’s just part of a stylistic aspect of closing things. Otherwise, I love this band, or I wouldn’t be half my life, but I don’t want things to drag on forever.
My comments on everyday things. I mail stuff; I handle distributions; it’s something I can never stay away from. I have no distance from it, which is probably a good thing in this case, so that I can think about it objectively and unromantically. If we play it once a year, like a feast once or twice a year, I can say, “Yeah, I can do this forever” because there’s no real time investment, but when you never get out of the loop, it makes sense to eventually get out of it.
So, what do you do in your free time now?
I have no free time. Interestingly, bassist Rollie was a member of the death metal band Teeth. I play in a band called Sweat, which is a rock band. I was in Dangers for a long time. I’ve been in a lot of bands and to be honest, Graf Orlock is the one that plays the least amount of time most of the time.
The records still exist, so I still need to mail them out. The idea is that the last few shows will have a crazy fire sale and make sure those who didn’t get it get it too. But really, I don’t think my life will change much in terms of time. It’s like a job I’m not getting paid for.
