If you have my book, The Beauty Diet, you know that my “skin first” approach to beauty includes a diet rich in fresh, healthy, seasonal foods. But healthy doesn’t have to mean boring or bland; that’s why I like to highlight the season’s most nutrient-dense (and delicious) hero foods, so you can switch things up every few months. Summer is a great time to add figs to your diet. They’re high in fiber, so they quickly flush your system and help detoxify your skin, which means they’re a great choice if you suffer from psoriasis, acne, or other skin conditions. They also add a touch of natural sweetness to dishes and are a healthier alternative to processed sugar. Sell?
