Iceland Airwaves festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and has just shared the initial lineup for their 2024 edition, which happens November 7-9 in Reykjavik. Among the 25 artists announced: Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, bar italia, Magdalena Bay, Mandy Indiana, Shygirl, Saya Gray and Joy (Anonymous). As usual, Icelandic artists play a big part and among those announced today include Inspector Spacetime (a highlight from 2022), Klemens Hannigan, Múr, Úlfur Úlfur and more.
“We are incredibly proud to be celebrating not only 25 years of Iceland Airwaves, but 25 years of playing a key part in the careers of some of the world’s most talented artists,” says festival manager Ísleifur Þórhallsson. “Over the years we have seen many of our Airwaves alumni grow from strength to strength, often developing into some of the industry’s most acclaimed artists. It is an honour to continue to bring new talent to Reykjavik, and share our beloved Icelandic community with the world.”
Iceland Airwaves is not only a great festival to check out loads of emerging artists and Icelandic artists (plus usually a few big names) in fairly intimate settings across downtown Reykjavik clubs, it’s also a good excuse to visit one of the spectacularly beautiful places on earth, with the country’s many geysers, waterfalls, geothermal pools, and alien landscapes on display not far outside of the city limits. It’s a fun time.
