In This Moment have unveiled the latest single from their upcoming album, Godmode, and it’s a cover of the Björk classic “Army of Me.”
While In This Moment’s version of the song maintains the tempo of the original, the band adds a metal element to the song, with heavy guitars and singer Maria Brink’s background screams complementing her melodic main vocal track.
Björk’s original version appeared on her acclaimed 1995 album Post, making a lasting impact on Brink. “I was a teenager when I first got into Björk,” stated the In This Moment vocalist. “I was mesmerized by her. She has a really inspiring energy to a lot of her stuff, an enlightening feeling. She’s just so innovative and groundbreaking and inspiring and magical.”
Guitarist Chris Howorth added, “Maria played me three different Björk songs to see which I thought would be the best. This was the one. I didn’t know it was gonna come out as cool as it is. It’s so rockin’.”
“Army of Me” marks the third song released from Godmode, which arrives on October 27th. Previously, the band unleashed “The Purge” and the title track.
As previously reported, In This Moment will embark on a co-headlining fall North American tour with Ice Nine Kills beginning November 3rd in Gary, Indiana. Tickets are available here.
