So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
IDLES – “GRACE”
“The song came from nowhere and everything. It was a breath and a call to be held,” says IDLES frontman Joe Talbot of the band’s brooding new single. “The only words or singing that came from our sessions with Nigel and I needed it, truly. All is love.” IDLES’ new album TANGK is out February 16 via Partisan.

THE LIBERTINES – “NIGHT OF THE HUNTER”
Here’s the second single from The Libertines’ upcoming album All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade. “We got the title from Charles Laughton’s directorial debut Night Of The Hunter starring Robert Mitchum as a preacher with ‘LOVE’ and ‘HATE’ tattooed on his knuckles,” says Pete Doherty. “The song’s about not staying ahead of the law. This fella doesn’t really know why his mate’s dead, but he’s got a feeling his mate had it coming to him. He fucked with the wrong people, and he stole something he shouldn’t have, and he got stabbed. So, he’s angry and hurt and he has to go and get revenge, so he does and that’s it for him, basically. Once he has stabbed the lad who stabbed his mate, that’s it for him. He lashed out in revenge and he knows they’re coming to get him and he’s not even going to try and run because he knows he’ll just be running forever.”

NNAMDÏ – “GOING CRAZY”
Ahead of his 2024 tour supporting Hurray For The Riff Raff, NNAMDÏ has shared the hyperpop-leaning “Going Crazy,” which he says is “about finding inspiration in the madness. Trying not to lose your mind when so many things feel out of control. It’s about embracing those heavy emotions and channeling them into something productive and positive. This song is exciting to me because I made it from a video of my little niece and nephews playing an out of tune ukulele and stomping around their house. They were chanting this mantra and I became obsessed with it. They often like to make up funny songs and sometimes I’ll add music to them. This is one of the few that the world gets to hear.”

ITASCA – “IMITATION OF WAR”

YUMI ZOUMA – EP IV
Yumi Zouma followed last year’s Present Tense with a new EP, which is out now. “We never expected there would be another EP after the EP trilogy,” the band say, “but we went to Tokyo earlier this year with a mission and some Big Feelings and came out of it with this body of work: EP IV. Some of our proudest, saddest and/or most collaborative music to date.”

REMO DRIVE – “NEW IN TOWN”

DAY WAVE – “AS YOU ARE”
“It’s about a relationship unravelling, and the moment you realize that neither person is willing to change to make it work,” says Day Wave’s Jackson Phillips of his new single. “The song took a while to fully come to fruition. I had been playing the chord progression over and over again for months before I actually wrote the song over it.”

ELEPHANT STONE – “ANOTHER YEAR GONE”
“In this repetitive existence, it was easy to become untethered, adrift in thoughts while feeling emotionally and physically suspended,” says Elephant Stone’s Rishi Dhir of the band’s new song that was born out of Covid lockdown. “’Another Year Gone’ is an anthem for these disorienting times. It’s a narrative of contrasts—between those grappling with stress, fear, and economic hardship, and those who profited from the chaos. Above all, this song is a musical embrace, a reassurance to hold close the ones you love and to tell them that, despite the world’s turmoil, everything will be okay.” New album Back Into the Dream is out February 23.
