Cristiano Ronaldo is eyeing 900 goals but admits that reaching 1000 goals may be asking for to much.
Ronaldo, 38, bagged a brace on Friday (October 14) as Portugal beat Slovakia 3-2 to clinch qualification for next year’s European Championships. Those two goals took him on to 125 goals in 202 international caps for Selecao das Quinas.
The Al-Nassr superstar has bagged 726 goals in 979 club appearances for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Sporting CP. That takes his overall tally to 851 goals in 1181 appearances for club and country.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the greatest goalscorer in history, plans to reach 900 goals. However, 1000 may be too big an order for prolific frontman (via Marca):
“It’s going to be pretty tough, but it’s about seeing how I am mentally, my motivation. If, physically, my legs treat me as well as I treat them? We’ll see, they are small stages. Until I get to 1,000, first I have to get to 900. I think I’ll get there.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been in a rich reign of form for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League this season. He’s bagged 11 goals and six assists in 11 games across competitions.
Recent reports claim that Ronaldo is looking to extend his contract with Al-Alami until 2027. He’s eyeing playing for Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, giving him plenty of time to reach the 1000-goal milestone.
Cristiano Ronaldo is happy with his current form for both Portugal and Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to qualify for their sixth UEFA European Championship. He and Portugal will be on the plane to Germany next year.
The five-time Champions League winner is enjoying his current spell at both club and international level. He said (via the aforementioned source):
“I am enjoying the moment, which is good, I feel good, my body is responding to what I have given it over the last few years. I am happy both in the national team and at club level. I’ve scored a lot of goals and I feel good physically.”
Ronaldo has bounced back from a disappointing 2022 World Cup campaign and an unceremonious departure from Manchester United in November 2022. He’s got back to his best at Al-Nassr, scoring 25 goals and providing eight assists in 30 games across competitions.
