Jimbo Hart, who has played bass in Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit since the group’s formation in the late 2000s, has announced he’s parting ways with the group, following a leave of absence that began this summer.
“I’m no longer a member of the 400 Unit.
I’m grateful for all the years, all the faces I’ve played for in the course of the band’s history and proud of all we accomplished,” Hart wrote on Twitter. “I’m happy to be moving forward into a new chapter of life and open to all possibilities, as they may arise.”
Back in June, just before the release of Isbell’s new album Weathervanes, Hart announced a leave-of-absence from the 400 Unit, writing, “I’m taking some time to take care of my mental health and resolve some old-school traumas.”
As for who will take over on bass in the 400 Unit, this summer Anna Butterss, Dominic John Davis, and Cat Popper joined the band, and Rolling Stone points out that a new press photo of the band features Anna Butterss and Will Johnson, who both played in the group for their September taping of an Austin CIty Limits episode.
