John Robb, frontman of long-running group The Membranes and founder of music site Louder Than War, released new book The Art Of Darkness – The History Of Goth earlier this year. Tracing the history of the genre, the book focuses on the peak ’80s era and includes interviews with The Sisters of Mercy‘s Andrew Eldritch, Killing Joke, Bauhaus, The Cult, The Banshees, The Damned, Einstürzende Neubauten, Johnny Marr, Trent Reznor, Adam Ant, Laibach, The Cure, Nick Cave, and more.
To promote the book, John is in the US this month and has a few special events lined up. In NYC, he’ll talk with WFMU’s Diane Farris at The Market Line on Thursday (10/12) followed by a DJ set with Tommy James. That’s free with RSVP.
He’ll then head to the West Coast for similar Q&A/DJ events in San Francisco (10/19 at Amado’s) and Los Angeles (Stories on 10/17, Book Soup/The Monty on 10/20 and Bar Sinister on 10/21).
