JOSHUA RAY WALKER
Having just released What is It Even?, an album of covers of songs by female artists, Joshua Ray Walker is on tour now through the end of 2023. He’s currently in Europe but will be in North America starting in mid-September, including headline dates and shows opening for The Killers, The Mavericks and the Marcus King Band. DEPECHE MODE TOUR OPENERS
Depeche Mode will be back in North America this fall for more dates on their Memento Mori tour. They’ve just announced openers, which include Kelly Lee Owens (who opened on their spring tour), DIIV and Young Fathers.
MURPHY’S LAW / THE RUMJACKS / THE BAR STOOL PREACHERS / GRADE 2
NYHC vets Murphy’s Law announced a fall tour with celtic punks The Rumjacks, UK ska/punks The Bar Stool Preachers, and UK punks Grade 2. The North American shows include stops on the East Coast, Midwest, and in Canada from late September through October.
ETERNAL SUMMERS’ NICOLE YUN (DATES WITH SPEEDY ORTIZ & MORE)
Nicole Yun of Eternal Summer will be playing solo dates in August, including NYC-area shows at TV Eye on August 16 with Toebow and Light-headed; Jersey City’s Pet Shop on August 17, and a “super secret” Brooklyn show on August 19, all ahead of DC’s Risers Fest. Then in September she’ll open for Speedy Ortiz in Louisville, Charlotte and Columbia.
GRAMMY MUSEUM SHOWS WITH RHIANNON GIDDENS AND LAINEY WILSON AT NATIONAL SAWDUST
The Grammy Museum has been presenting combination talks/performances at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust and they have a couple coming up: Rhiannon Giddens will discuss and play songs from her upcoming You’re the One on August 17 (she’s got more tour dates too); and Lainey Wilson will take part in a discussion and perform on August 25.
RYAN CASTRO
Colombian reggaeton singer Ryan Castro has announced his “Ghetto Star” US tour. The trip runs through the month of September, beginning in West Palm Beach and hitting Boston, Houston, Las Vegas, Chicago, and more along the way.
DURATIONS FESTIVAL
Brooklyn venues Public Records and Pioneer Works are presenting the Durations Festival from November 9-11, featuring performances by Tim Hecker and Laurel Halo, showcases from International Anthem, Japan’s Mule Musiq, and more.
IAN SWEET / PLEASE DON’T DESTROY
Ian Sweet just announced a new album and has upcoming tour dates with comedy troupe and SNL video sketch artists Please Don’t Destroy.
ARM’S LENGTH
Ontario emo band Arm’s Length just released a new single and will soon be on the road with Knuckle Puck, Real Friends and One Step Closer.
THANKS FOR COMING (RACHEL FROM WATER FROM YOU EYES)
Water From Your Eyes released their Matador debut earlier this year, and the band’s Rachel Brown also has a new solo record as Thanks for Coming due out in September. They’ll celebrate the release of What’s My Capacity to Love at Ridgewood, Queens’ Sundown Bar on October 5.
NOISE COMPLAINT / THE UPFUX (with KEROSENE HEIGHTS in NYC)
Having released a split LP on Bad Time Records last year, ska-core punks Noise Complaint and The UpFux just started an East Coast run that hits Ridgewood, NY’s Bar Freda on Sunday (8/13), crossing paths with emo band to watch Kerosene Heights’ tour with Elephant Jake. Rounding out that four-band bill is NYC locals Cop/Out. After that, Noise Complaint do a West Coast run with Stuck Lucky.
MARC RIBOT / CERAMIC DOG
Guitar great Marc Ribot has lots of upcoming dates, including ones with his trio Ceramic Dog, as well as The Jazzbins, John Medeski, Joe Russo, and more.
