So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
K.D. LANG – “BECAUSE OF YOU” (TONY BENNETT COVER)
“The indelible imprint of this man. How can we possibly express our gratitude? Only perhaps by understanding the power of a good song, and the generosity of a great singer,” the great k.d. lang said in tribute to the late Tony Bennett, covering this classic for CBS News Sunday Morning that’s now been released to streaming services.

IRREVERSIBLE ENTANGLEMENTS – “OUR LAND BACK”
Irreversible Entanglements say “Our Land Back” is “an anthem to struggles for self-determination by peoples who have been dispossessed of their land and denied their right to return. It swings for autonomy and solidarity and against forgetting.” It’s from new album Protect Your Light that’s out 9/8 via Impulse.

IOTOSH – “FILL MY CUP” (ft. PROTOJE)
Reggae producer Iotosh taps frequent collaborator Protoje for this groovy new single.

ORSON WILDS – “GIN & TONIC”
Orson Wilds’ new EP This Burning House (We All Fell Asleep In) comes out September 15 via Take This To Heart Records, and new single “Gin & Tonic” is an impassioned emo-folk song in the vein of stuff like Bright Eyes and Kevin Devine.

FAT TONY & TAYDEX – “LOOSEN UP” (ft. B.K. HABERMEHL)
Houston rapper Fat Tony and producer Taydex’s new album I Will Make A Baby In This Damn Economy comes out next week (8/25), and new single “Loosen Up” finds Tony and guest singer B.K. Habermehl taking on a nostalgia-inducing funk groove from Taydex.

PRIMORDIAL – “VICTORY HAS 1000 FATHERS, DEFEAT IS AN ORPHAN”
Dublin black metal vets Primordial have announced their first album in five years, How It Ends, due September 29 via Metal Blade. Here’s the nearly-seven-minute lead single.

ALABASTER DEPLUME – “NAKED LIKE WATER” FT. DONNA THOMPSON
The latest single from Alabaster DePlume’s new album Come with Fierce Grace is “Naked Like Water,” which features Donna Thompson, a drummer and vocalist from his touring ensemble. “Whilst we were making this music a lot of different stories and energies were swapped,” Donna says. “I feel like this particular moment in the session was about choosing to develop our decisions both on and off the tape and it was like a summoning to say ‘Right, this is where we go next’, something that is not always an available statement when dealing in our day to day.”

MODERN NATURE – “CASCADE” FT JULIE TIPPETTS
“Cascade is a link between the abstract colours of this record and the rhythms of the last one Island Of Noise,” Jack Cooper says of this new Modern Nature song. “The imagery is an attempt to convey how overwhelming the world can be when you make the time to really observe it. Beautiful, intricate and infinite. I was honored to be able to sing this round a microphone with the great Julie Tippetts…something I’ll never forget.” Modern Nature’s new album No Fixed Point In Space is out September 29 via Bella Union.

KRISTIN HERSH – “CONSTANCE STREET”
“I lived on Constance Street in New Orleans when that song’s story happened,” Kristin Hersh says of her new single. “‘Buying slips in the Irish Channel/broken prince in fluorescent camo’ is a very Southern day. I was born a hick and I guess I’ll always be one.” Hersh’s new solo album Clear Pond Road is out September 8 via Fire.
