Katy J Pearson taps Wet Leg, H Hawkline & more for ‘Songs From The Wicker Man’ EP (hear “Fire Leap”)

Cult horror classic The Wicker Man, and Paul Giovanni and Magnet‘s equally influential soundtrack, turns 30 this year, and to celebrate, Katy J Pearson has enlisted friends for an EP of covers of songs from the film. Out October 31 via Heavenly, Songs From The Wicker Man features contributions from Wet Leg, H Hawkline, Drug Store Romeos, Broadside Hacks, Sara Meth, Orbury Common, Bert Ussher, Richard Norris and more.

The idea for this EP stemmed from Katy covering The Wicker Man‘s “Willow Song” for last year’s Sound of the Morning. “I watched The Wicker Man some time last year and I adored it,” Katy told us last year. “I’ve always been obsessed with old folklore traditions so this film was right up my street. The soundtrack was also wonderful and once I’d watched the film I couldn’t stop listening to it so I feel sonically some of the production elements from the soundtrack trickled into my own album.”

Pearson was then asked to make this EP by STUDIOCANAL for their new 50th anniversary 4K restoration of the film. “Introducing a younger audience to the classic films in our library is so important to us, and so we jumped at the chance to work with Katy J Pearson and Heavenly, to breathe new life into The Wicker Man’s iconic soundtrack,” says STUDIOCANAL’s Candy Vincent-Smith. “This very special E.P. aims to bring a whole new generation of film and music fans to worship at the feet of this brilliantly scary cult film, in celebration of its 50th Anniversary.”
