It’s been a rollercoaster Sunday for Killer Mike. After winning three Grammys during the day at the Premiere Ceremony, he was detained by the LAPD, according to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Chris Gardner, who reports the charges had nothing to do with today’s awards.
A source told Hollywood Reporter that “it’s a big nothing,” and Mike (born Michael Render) may be released later tonight. Killer Mike’s team declined comment to the publication, who also reported that Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. was seen talking to security and Mike’s team.
Killer Mike won Best Rap Album for MICHAEL, and Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Scientists & Engineers,” with André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane. On winning Rap Album, he said “You can’t tell me you get too old, you can’t tell me it’s too late… dreams come true! It’s a sweep!”

Just spoke to an official who tells me it’s a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena. Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. “It’s a big nothing,” source says.

“No.” Someone on his team gave me a quick declined comment when asked what is going on and why he’s being detained.
