Kevin “Geordie” Walker, guitarist and founding member of post-punk icons Killing Joke, died today in Prague after suffering a massive stroke on Friday. He was 64. The news came via close friend Luca Signorelli who wrote a lengthy tribute to Walker on Facebook that you can read below.
Killing Joke formed in 1978 by Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards), Paul Ferguson (drums), and Youth (bass). Walker was the only constant member, apart from Coleman, over the group’s 45-year history and his inventive style — atmospheric and aggressive — was an intrinsic part of the band and has inspired countless others over the last four decades.
Rest easy, Geordie.
