L.S. Dunes–aka vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive, Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting, etc), guitarists Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) and Travis Stever (Coheed & Cambria), and Thursday’s rhythm section of bassist Tim Payne & drummer Tucker Rule–have announced Lost Songs: Lines and Shapes, which features demo versions of every song on their 2022 debut album Past Lives. It comes out on November 10 via Fantasy (pre-order), one day before the album’s one-year anniversary.
“Lines and Shapes, the newest L.S. Dunes release, is the best way we know how to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of our band’s debut full-length, Past Lives,” says Frank Iero. “This is the blueprint to how the album came to be. The spark of each song as we started this journey to each triumphant end. Lines and Shapes will take the listener down the same path we traveled as a band. Listen in on how we created together from afar. Sending digital breadcrumbs back and forth, building foundations for what was to come in the cloud, and then finally to those structures built in their definitive form. Lines and Shapes not only celebrates the anniversary of Past Lives, but also the craft of songwriting and the many dynamics of what it means to be in a band. It is something I wish I was able to experience for every record I ever loved and wondered how it came to be.”
The first song released is the demo version of “Permanent Rebellion,” and hearing it in this early form really shows how far it came and how much L.S. Dunes reworked it before finalizing the version that appears on Past Lives. Listen below.
L.S. Dunes also recently released two new singles, “Benadryl Subreddit” and “Old Wounds.” They also responded to criticism of the AI-generated teaser video for “Old Wounds.”
L.S. Dunes are also gearing up for a tour with Pierce the Veil and those dates are listed below. Thursday are also doing a War All The Time 20th anniversary tour in 2024 with Rival Schools and former Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley’s new band Many Eyes, who released their first new song today (listen and read our interview with Keith here).
