The Tibet House Benefit Concert returned to Carnegie Hall for its 37th annual edition on Monday night (2/26), celebrating the Year of the Dragon with a show curated and artistic directed by Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson, both of whom also performed.
Patti Smith’s band served as house band as usual, and the lineup also featured Maggie Rogers and Joan Baez (who covered Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” together, in addition to their separate performances), Maya Hawke (who played an unreleased song, “Hang In There,” with Christian Lee Hutson, Shahzad Ismaily, and Scorchio Quartet), Jlin, Tenzin Choegyal, Bowen Yang, Gogol Bordello, The Philip Glass Ensemble, and more. To close out the night, everyone returned to the stage for a rendition of Baez’s “We Shall Overcome.”
