Back in July, multi-instrumentalist Taja Cheek released “New Year’s UnResolution,” her first new music as L’Rain since her fantastic 2021 album Fatigue, and now she’s announced a new album. I Killed Your Dog, her third LP, is due out October 13 via Mexican Summer. Cheek calls it an “anti-break-up” record, and she made it with regular collaborators Andrew Lappin and Ben Chapoteau-Katz. The new single is hazy, swirling psych-rock track “Pet Rock;” watch the accompanying video below. “The song is based around an old story I’d been told about a woman who was riding the train but looked strange, and the reader eventually figures out that she’s dead, with glasses on, being propped up by the people that seem to have harmed her,” Cheek says. ” As a lifelong collector of tchotchkes, the music video is based on a concept I came up with featuring miniatures.”
L’Rain will go on a North American tour this fall, with shows in NYC, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and more. See all dates below.
The NYC show begins the tour, on October 20 at Pioneer Works. Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday, August 25 at 10 AM local time.
