Longtime Madball bassist Hoya Roc left the band this past summer after 30 years, and now he’s focusing his attention on a new band, SMOKE AxD. Hoya wrote the music and lyrics, and then he recruited the lineup of vocalist Lord Ezec aka Danny Diablo (of Crown of Thornz, Skarhead, etc), guitarist Sean Martin (Hatebreed, Twitching Tongues, and drummer Dimi Douvas (Crown of Thornz, Stillsuit) to help bring them to life.
The band hit the studio with producer Zeuss (who’s also worked with Madball and Hatebreed), and the plan is to release a five-song EP in spring 2024. Details on that EP are TBA, but first, they’re putting out their debut single “Smoke All Day” on Friday (12/15), and it gets an early premiere right here.
With members of Madball, Crown of Thornz, and Hatebreed involved, you can count on getting tough-as-fuck, ass-beating hardcore, and that’s exactly what “Smoke All Day” is. “I never thought 30 years later I would write some of the best music I ever done with my brothers,” Hoya says, “and we’re only getting started.” Listen and watch the video below.
