Catalan pianist, vocalist and producer Marina Herlop will release her new album Nekkuja on October 27 via PAN. The record was conceived while she waited for her last album, Pripyat, to be released. “Some days I used to sit on the balcony of my flat to catch some sun,” she explains, “I would close my eyes and start visualizing myself as a gardener, pulling out purple weeds from the soil, every bad memory or emotion I wanted to expulse being one of the plants.” She says Nekkuja is that garden.
The first single is the heady “La Alhambra,” a mesmerizing art pop song with hints of modern classical.
Marina will cross the Atlantic in October for shows in the US ahead of her appearance at MUTEK in Mexico City, including NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on 10/5. All dates are listed below.
