Harpist and composer Mary Lattimore has announced a new LP, Goodbye, Hotel Arkada, coming on October 6 via Ghostly International (pre-order). Goodbye, Hotel Arkada, whose namesake is a hotel in Croatia, follows 2022’s West Kensington, Mary’s collaborative album with Paul Sukeena, and her 2020 solo LP Silver Ladders. “When I think of these songs, I think about fading flowers in vases, melted candles, getting older, being on tour and having things change while you’re away, not realizing how ephemeral experiences are until they don’t happen anymore, fear for a planet we’re losing because of greed, an ode to art and music that’s really shaped your life that can transport you back in time, longing to maintain sensitivity and to not sink into hollow despondency,” she says of the new album. Goodbye, Hotel Arkada comes with contributions by former Cure member Lol Tolhurst, Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, Meg Baird, Roy Montgomery, Samara Lubelski, and Walt McClements. The first track and lead single of Goodbye, Hotel Arkada is “And Then He Wrapped His Wings Around Me,” featuring Meg Baird and Walt McClements, a slow-burning exploration with fluttering harp and smooth, layered harmonies. Listen below.
Alongside the album announcement and single release, Mary Lattimore has mapped a sprawling fall tour, kicking off with her appearance alongside Julianna Barwick at Making Time outside Philadelphia. Tickets for the full tour go on sale Friday, August 4, at 10am.
Mary’s tour includes a three-night-stand on at Union Pool in Brooklyn–on November 3 and November 4 she’ll play with Growing, and on November 5 she’ll be joined by Brooke Sietinsons. All dates below.
